Sycorax

Sycorax started back in January 2011, when the two guitarists came together and decided to form a band, later joined by childhood friends in bass drums and vocals. Sycorax is a name of the most powerful witch in Shakesphere literature, keeping that in mind they decided to keep their name Sycorax to cast a spell on the audience with their music.

What sets Sycorax apart from other contemporary band is their music, which they have termed Pavitra Gorkha Metal, which is a mix of Thrash and Death Metal and has lot of nepali beats, rhythms, bass patterns and elements infused in their songs. They all have different influences from Trash Metal Bands to Extreme Death Metal Bands.

Their message to the young bands today are “We would like to tell them follow your dreams and be dedicated and believe in to what they do, the scene is changing...” They are musicians and don’t like to get involved in politics, leaving that for like the politicians. However they do promote their traditional Gorkha culture, race and the problems they face through our music!

Their Response to Hornbill International Rock Contest was “Yes it is our first time playing at HIRC, and there is a whole new level of excitement surrounding the band at the moment. The Name itself!!  And since it is one of the biggest fest and platform a band can get in India.”
