Exclusive Interview with Johnmpamei & the Band

MASSIVE METAL INDIA - We would love to take you back to when you started as a band. For those who don’t know, Johnmpamei & the Band, How did it come together? What is that made you decide on the name of Johnmpamei & the Band and what story does it have behind them? Who are your members and what role do they have in the band?

We started our band in the year 2013, we named our Band as Johnmpamei & the Band, and we believe that coming together with a shared belief makes our band stronger.I personally feel that everything has a purpose and once you understand your role, everything can fall into place. The members are

1.Johnmpamei (Vocal)

2.Rambi (Bassist)

3.Ashis (Drums)

4. Jeffery (Rhythm Guitarist and Vocal)

MMI - We have 28 bands on list and the country witnesses’ bands coming up every year. What sets you apart and makes you different? Who are your favourite bands and influences? And why?

We are different because we are more in-tune with our group working together. It is quite difficult to create a group and make it successful. We work hard at building the friendship first, syncing our beliefs and coming together for a purpose. Other groups do that too but we feel that everyone has their own unique travels and troubles that influence their music. We do believe in individuality and bringing our message to everyone – whatever we have gone through as a group of people.

MMI - A lot of people as a band focus on subjects like social and political aspect. But what subject apart from the ones mentioned above do you have a keen interest in? What current messages do you convey which is important for the youth of today?

We still focus on the universal message of love and togetherness. However we convey our message, we still believe in focusing on human aspects influenced by love or lack thereof.

MMI - If someone is interested in your music, what would you tell them to expect from your music? What are your favourite track you guys have recorded and Why?

I would say it is about retrospection.I feel that our audience will look more into their own feelings and emotions and connect with our music. I do not have a specific favourite because every song has it’s own journey.I marvel at the different journeys that unfold as a result of the experiences we have as a team.

MMI - Maybe this is your first time playing at HIRC, well If you had to name one of your favourite things that made you guys decide to register and play for the contest, what would it be and why?

It is about our desire to send our message to more people. The decision came as a result of that small mission we have – to be out there for more people to experience our music and have fun with it.

MMI - What do you feel has been the defining moment about Your Band? Which shows, gigs or concerts have been a turning point for you as a band? Tell us a stage where you had the most fun and the worst too?

All of our experiences have been unique and we take each one as a new learning curve. Our passion for music gives us the motivation and desire to give our audience a good time.

MMI - There are so many bands and young musicians today and the completion gets more and more every year. What advice do you have for musicians who want to make music their full time career?

I think it is more to believing in what you can do and understanding your purpose. Everyone has a place somewhere and for sure, anyone can share their own messages through music.
